The Jefferson County Democratic Committee applauds Governor Paterson on his decision to pick US Congressional Representative Kirsten Gillibrand for the recently vacated US Senate seat.

Governor Paterson had a very important and difficult decision to make with a large field of exceptional candidates to choose from. We believe that he has judiciously put the needs of the constituents above any other considerations.

Rep. Gillibrand will bring a much needed upstate perspective to the US Senate. She has a strong background in Agriculture, Armed Services, and Energy. She began a High Tech caucus in Congress, and we believe she is uniquely suited to work with our new team of local State Representatives to find innovative and compassionate solutions to our most pressing problems in the North Country.
