Schumer says "Leave Bessie alone"
For a city guy, Sen. Schumer was pretty fired up about cows this afternoon. The senator held a phone press conference decrying a plan from the EPA to tax farmers for each cow on their farms because the methane gas cows produce is considered air pollution according to a Supreme Court decision handed down last year. Farmers would be required to pay $175 per dairy cow and $87.50 per beef cow, a $120 million bill for New York farmers alone. Read on..
