Scope of Wal-Mart Hearing Limited By Lawsuits
Nassau County Legis. Joseph Scannell (D-Baldwin) held a committee hearing Wednesday that was supposed to shed some light on the Black Friday shopper stampede at a Wal-Mart in Valley Stream in which security guard was trampled to death and five other people were injured.
Scannell, chairman of the Public Safety Committee, said he wanted to, "shine a light on what happened so we can prevent it from happening in the future."
His opening comments just about guaranteed there would be no light shed on the incident. Scannell, and his Republican colleagues on the committee, said they would be very careful in their questions because of pending lawsuits against the county. Read on..
