Four of the five Democratic candidates for state attorney general pledged to protect consumers and fight political corruption during an hourlong forum Saturday at a picnic at Tymor Park hosted by the Dutchess County Democratic Committee.
Assemblyman Richard Brodsky, D-Greenburgh, took the brunt of the criticism, chiefly from New York City attorney Sean Coffey, the lone candidate who has never held elected or appointed office.
Coffey, a Navy veteran who left a New York City law firm to run for attorney general, said the problems facing the state could not be solved by "Albany insiders." Coffey noted state Sen. Eric Schneiderman and former state Insurance Commissioner Eric Dinallo also had close ties to Albany.
