Celibacy can be a choice in life, or a condition imposed by circumstances.
While attending a Marriage Weekend, My wife and I, listened to
the instructor declare, 'It is essential that husbands and wives know the
things that are important to each other.."
He then addressed the men,
'Can you name and describe your wife's favorite flower?'
I leaned over, touched my wife's hand gently, and whispered,
'Gold Medal-All-Purpose, isn't it?'
And thus began my life of celibacy.........

I'm proud to join this distinguished company
Since the 17th Century, New York State has been a gateway to the New World for people from all over the world – of every color, nation, and creed. Openness, tolerance, and diversity are what made New York great. The movement of people, ideas, and commerce westward to America’s frontier was made possible by all New Yorkers.
The rights guaranteed to us as citizens of New York and the United States are blind to religion or race. We, the undersigned, extend our hands in friendship to Muslim New Yorkers – who, like people of any faith, share our common hopes and dreams for themselves and their children.
In 2001, violent extremists indiscriminately murdered and injured thousands of innocent New Yorkers, including hundreds of Muslims. Those extremists committed their crime in the name of Islam, perverting it into a message of hatred and fear. We remember starkly the pain of this attack, and have overwhelming compassion for its victims and survivors.
But we cannot allow a hateful act to engender new hate. American values, principles, and rights should not be jettisoned because they are claimed by, or owed to, a particular faith whose name was horribly abused. We New York State bloggers believe it is our duty to stand up for the values that make America great – that our laws and Constitution apply equally to all – Muslim and Christian; Jew and Gentile; believers and non-believers.
We, therefore, support and defend the right of Muslim New Yorkers to build a community center on privately owned land in Lower Manhattan.

Money
canvassing a nearby well-to-do neighborhood. She went to the
front door of the first house, and asked the owner if he had any
odd jobs for her to do.
'Well, I guess I could use somebody to paint my porch,' he
said. 'How much will you charge me?'
Delighted, the girl quickly responded, 'How about $50?'
The man agreed and told her that the paint brushes and everything
she would need was in the garage. The man's wife, hearing the
conversation said to her husband, 'Does she realize that our porch
goes ALL the way around the house?'
He responded, 'That's a bit cynical, isn't it?'
The wife replied, 'You're right. I guess I'm starting to believe all
those dumb blond jokes '.
Later that day, the blond came to the door to collect her money.
'You're finished already?' the startled husband asked.
'Yes,' the blond replied, 'and I even had paint left over, so I
gave it two coats.'
Impressed, the man reached into his pocket for the $50.00 and
handed it to her along with a ten dollar tip.
'And by the way,' the blond added, 'it's not a Porch, it's a Lexus.

Ms. Rice, 45, registered as a Republican in 1984 before enrolling as a Democrat in 2005 to run for district attorney. Yet she did not vote in a single election for 18 years, her campaign conceded on Saturday. It was a lapse she described as a youthful failing and one she regretted.

Oregon: Police Explain Decision to Revisit Gore Case
By JESSE McKINLEY
Published: July 1, 2010
The Portland police on Thursday explained their decision to reopen an investigation into accusations that former Vice President Al Goremade unwanted sexual advances toward a masseuse at a Portland hotel in 2006. In a release, the department said that there were “procedural issues,” including a lack of “command-level review,” when detectives interviewed Mr. Gore’s accuser in 2009. That interview came after several failed efforts to interview her by the police shortly after the incident is supposed to have occurred.

How about an A.G. candidate who won't use the office as a stepping stone
This is a cut and paste from the NY Law Journal.
If Elected A.G., Coffey Says He Has No Plans to Run for Governor
Sean Coffey has made it clear what he will not do if elected attorney general—run for governor. As part of a roll-out of his 10-page agenda to reform state government, the Democratic nominee for attorney general pledged Monday not to run for governor if elected. Mr. Coffey said he had "no interest in running for governor, so it's an easy pledge for me to make."
The decision not to follow in the footsteps of Eliot Spitzer and Andrew Cuomo reflected Mr. Coffey's continuing efforts to position himself as an Albany outsider. The former securities class action litigator also said the announcement would help him get certain proposals passed by the Legislature.
As part of his proposals, Mr. Coffey said he will seek new authority for the attorney general to independently initiate corruption investigations and enforce campaign finance laws. "One thing that may make it easier for the Legislature to approve the expansion of authority is the understanding that that additional authority is not going to be used for political gain," he said. —Nate Raymond
I wonder if the other 4 wannabe AGs would make a similar promise. I'm betting the answer is as my beloved Texas born high school english teacher Mrs. Burch would say, "Zeee Rowe!" In a frustrated outburst she once threatened to award me that grade. I deserved it for inflicting her with an on purpose big backside pain. But being the nice person she was didn't do the 0 thing. Wish I could thank her now.
